This 2,005 acre property encompasses critical grassland, sagebrush shrub-steppe, dry forested ecosystems and riparian habitats in the South Okanagan. Consequently it supports a wide variety of species-at-risk, and provides Class 3 ungulate winter range and is an important wildlife migration corridor. Ponderosa Pine and Interior Douglas-fir habitats on the property are considered biogeoclimatic zones of conservation concern.

The Twin Lakes property is adjacent to the critical conservation lands currently protected in the White Lake Basin as well as the Bighorn Sheep-Vaseux Lake National Wildlife Area, Vaseux Protected Area, White Lake Grasslands Protected area, and extensive private conservation holdings in the Vaseux Lake area. The securement of the property will minimize habitat fragmentation and ensure connectivity with adjacent conservation lands which will provide greater opportunity for species to adjust to climate changes over time.
