Working Alone or in Isolation
BCCF will avoid having employees work alone or in isolation where there is a risk of injury or harm whenever possible. Where this is not practicable, the supervisor, Project Coordinator, Regional Manager and/or Safety Coordinator will (alongside the employee) develop and implement a written procedure for checking the well-being of any employee assigned to work alone or in isolation. Determination of check-in intervals will be determined using the hazard and risk assessment process, JSA and scope of work involved, and previously established intervals used for similar projects and work.
Workers who are working alongside other BCCF staff but in isolation (as defined by WSBC) must also establish at the field level a documented protocol for ongoing communication between their crew when conducting these activities. They shall provide the details of this within the additional protocol sections of their JSA.
