9.1 Policy
The Emergency Preparedness Program provides a standardized method to prepare for and handle emergencies.
9.2 Responsibilities
Management
- Ensure implementation of the Emergency Preparedness Program.
- Ensure emergency response training is provided.
- Ensure emergency response drills are held annually, at a minimum.
- Participate in emergency response drills.
Supervisors
- Ensure an emergency response plan is implemented.
- Follow the emergency response plan.
- Participate in emergency response drills.
Workers
- Participate in emergency response drills.
- Follow the emergency response plan.
9.3 Program Overview
All worksites require an emergency response plan. Two types of plans are used by BC Conservation Foundation employees - fixed location plans and field level plans.
Fixed Location Emergency Response Plan
When: Created when the site opens.
Who: Activity completed by the Safety Administrator and a JOHSC representative.
Tool: Fixed Location Emergency Response Plan.
Review:
- Annually.
- After a workplace incident.
Documentation: A copy of the emergency response plan will be posted on the office/site bulletin board. A record of the emergency response plan will be kept electronically on the BC Conservation Foundation server.
Field Level Emergency Response Plan
When: Before a fieldwork project begins
Who: Activity completed by supervisors and workers.
Tool: Field Level Emergency Response Plan.
Reviewed:
- Annually
- After a workplace incident.
Documentation: The crew will keep a copy of the emergency response plan throughout the work term. An electronic copy will be retained on the BC Conservation Foundation server.
Emergency Response Drill
When: At least annually at each fixed workplace.
Who: Organized by the site emergency coordinator.
Tool: Emergency Response Drill Report.
Reviewed: Reviewed by management and revised if required.
Documentation: An electronic copy will be kept on the BC Conservation Foundation server.
